Dr. Hollander Competes in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii on Oct 12, 2019

After qualifying for a coveted World Championship slot on his first attempt at the Ironman Distance in Chattanooga TN, Dr. Hollander earned the honor of racing against some of the greatest endurance athletes in the World on Oct 12, 2019 in Kona, Hawaii.  Tired of his place in the Medical Industrial Complex, where medications are the cure for inactivity, obesity, overnutrition, and a litany of related metabolic diseases - Dr. Hollander believes the fundamentals of endurance sport are the right way to battle type 2 diabetes and obesity.  He hopes that in some small way his run through the lava fields of Hawaii last October will inspire his patients to get active and get off the hamster wheel of diabetes medications that is commonplace in modern medicine.  There is no substitute in medicine for good nutrition, good sleep, and regular physical activity... and these are the fundamentals of endurance sport.
