Dr. Joy grew up in Long Island, New York. She received her undergraduate degree from Boston University in 2000. She spent the following two years in research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA.

Dr. Joy earned her medical degree from Ross University, graduating with high honors. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut. During her residency she was awarded the Resident of the Year Ambulatory Care Award and a special Letter of Commendation from the program director. She remained at the University of Connecticut and completed a rigorous fellowship in Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Bone Disease.

Dr. Joy is the associate director of the Thyroid Center at Princeton. She is one the few Endocrinologists nationwide to have earned the prestigious Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU). Dr. Joy performs thousands of diagnostic ultrasound and hundreds of ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations of suspicious thyroid nodules annually. Dr. Joy’s other areas of clinical interest include bone metabolism, endocrinopathies in pregnancy including gestational diabetes, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Dr. Joy’s bone research is particularly relevant today as data mounts suggesting that antiresorptive medication may actually lead to atypical fractures after very prolonged use. Before this idea hit the mainstream, Dr. Joy was studying the effects of these drugs on bone microarchitecture.

Dr. Joy is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism. She is an active member of the American Thyroid Association, the Endocrine Society, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
